Reasonable speed through the night with standard sail plan but auto helm tripping out regularly leading to some hairy moments (including a broach at 3am!). No damage fortunately. We believe we have moved up the fleet having managed a 200 mile day. Glorious day today with 15 to 20 knot winds and deep blue sea and sky. Bit like the UK at present?
Skip managed to get to the top of the mast today to fix the spinnaker mast head fitting so we will be back in business with downwind sails tomorow.
Fished all day and - wait for it - didn't catch anything. Got all the fancy kit though so still confident for the next few days.
Sad to hear Auliana II's fate so fingers crossed for the rest of the fleet.
Love to all from this motley bunch - we plan to have the sat phone on from 1200 to 1300 UK time - Nicky has the number.
Thanks Gilbert for your interest and comments. Nice nautical photo Claire!
Jasmina
Hi Boys,
ReplyDeleteGlad going well so far. What have you done with Jasmine? She seems to have disappeared off the board!
Regards,
Steve & Jane
Just a couple of funnies

Due to the increased reports of excessive alcohol consumption the ship's doctor issues theses warnings.
Warning: The consumption of alcohol may make you think you are whispering while your shipmates are trying to sleep.
Warning: The consumption of alcohol may cause you to tell your shipmates over and over again that you love them.
Warning: The consumption of alcohol may lead you to believe that every lover in every port is dying for you to call at four in the morning.
Warning: The consumption of alcohol may cause you to think that you can dance and that falling down is part of that process.
Dire Warning: The consumption of alcohol may make you think you are actually smarter than the captain.
Nautical Lingo 1
An ensign on sea duty for the first time overheard a recruit say he was going downstairs. “Listen, sailor," he snarled, "Downstairs is below, that side is starboard, that's aft and that's portside. If I ever hear you say one more civilian word like "downstairs" again I'll throw you through that little round window over there!"
Bon Vent;

Hello sailors,
ReplyDeleteSounds like Jasmina proving a fickle female (just to remind you of home!)- much sympathy with your son up the mast, eh, Skip?! Fantastic course and progress tho’(Navman Shaw?) – if ghost yacht Jasmine emerges from below the radar, you may well be buying the rum shots. Envious of your weather – especially with sundowner sherry and peanuts – it’s godawful here.
With enduring (tho’ maybe misplaced?) faith in PhisherFil, I sure hope Andy provisioned the canned tuna – or maybe that was Martin’s secret supermarket mission.
Thinking of you all and wishing you fair winds and fine spirits.
Much love Thea xx
Hi Guys - Sorry to hear about the ' poor ' catch - did you not spot any Whales while you were up the mast for Phil to spear ! Joking apart great progress guys we are all really enjoying watching your progress with you doing the hard work !

hello sailor boys,
ReplyDeleteThis is message from Jean and Claire.
Claire says if you're bored you should consider: boom jumping (the old classic), water skiing off the back of the boat, get dad to do his favourite man over board drill when he throws himself over board (then leave him instead) and obviously halyard swinging.
Jean says hope all ok for Rob and food-sorry he missed the pork and apple. Not sure if you can click into home but all going ok.Guy looking ofrward to his riding competition.Am down in London now to stay at Kate's flat. She is on way back from Newcastle but has to work tomorrow and the weekend as they are behind schedule.Weather horrible-can't believe so hot for you-did you bring the right clothes!!Bet you are all wearing the same ones every day!!
Take care.Lots of love JG xx
