Days 6 and 7 - Sat/Sunday

The weekend started well with another Dorado which Skipper managed to land - another excellent fresh fish dinner. Since it was Saturday the boys needed a sports fix so it was 2003 world cup final again. England won in extra time (again!). Skipper washed the floor around their feet.

Getting into the rhythm of the sea now and everyone very comfortable (not hard in these temperatures). Highlight was Sunday after lunch when we calculated that at 1600 gmt we were half way. Celebrated with some rank sherry and then downed sails for a mid ocean swim. Mad (and not brilliant for competitiveness)! Proof in picture. Had to go in first with a mask to do a shark check before they'd go in!
Going well with a few 200 milers under our belts. Sunday midday after the swim we decided to have a chilled 24 hours so just main and Genoa tonight. We'll crank up again tomorrow.
Thanks to all for great comments on the blog; please keep it up as they give us a boost.
This entry by Skip (one shift in bed and the other up in the cockpit).

  1. I am soooo jealous, never eaten a Dorado (wasn't that a soap opera?) and never sailed that far from land. I bet there's some fantastic stary skies that far away from light pollution.
I'd like to say 'Keep up the good work' but it doesn't look like work at all.
Don't abuse that Cabin Boy too much Stu !

  2. Boys you are doing just fine - glad you slowed down a bit as the girls are banking on some beach days before you arrive!!

  3. I am useless with technology so have no idea what to do. Good job Ben is on hand.

Great to read about your exploits. Stu, like the idea of a mid ocean swim but could do without the sailing to get there!! Hope Cabin Boy is working hard. Good luck with the second leg/challenge. Sorry wont be there to greet you, help clean the boat! Love Jane x

Its taken me over a week to work out how to send this message...

  4. Alas poor Jasmine, you knew her well! - but can you do the same with Barbara? (what sort of a name is that? Maybe a dear wife so shouldn't really comment..).
Sounds like you've found the secret of El Dorado - v. pleased you haven't had to break open the canned tuna to get your skin-rejuvenating fish oils (plus coping with Philip's no-catch blues). Expect next fortune from '57 recipes fly to fry' cookbook (could be Peck enterprise?)

Anyway, jolly pleased you're having fun, but in the interests of she and me who are slaving over Christmas cards and fairy lights, please could you have a few (minor, non-life-threatening) disasters to slow you down. You might arrive BEFORE us and seriously cramp our style - we intend to support EVERY welcome party (yes, even if it's Luna A!)

Incidentally, Graham (says...')is hosting Xmas drinks after return. Save your stories...

Fab moon here tonight - thinking of you all out there. It's a Thing you're doin'...
    Stay safe, all love
